THE EXPLORERS CLUB (SOHO) LTD
PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release - 17 October 2026
TEC Soho issues statement on receivership at 1 Greek Street.
Corporate trustee seeks clarity on enforcement, protection of charitable interests and preservation of records.
London, 13 October 2026 - The Explorers Club (Soho) Ltd (“TEC Soho”), acting as corporate trustee of The House of St Barnabas-in-Soho (“SBIS”), has received notification of the appointment of fixed-charge receivers in respect of 1 Greek Street, Soho.
In a letter dated 13 October 2026, Leonard Curtis notified TEC Soho that Nick Myers and Alex Cadwallader had been appointed on 12 October 2026 by ZUK UK Holdings Limited under a legal charge dated 19 February 2026.
The receivers’ letter states that they have powers to take control of the property, collect rental income and sell the property. It also requests information concerning safety, insurance, occupation, access and possible refinancing.
TEC Soho is obtaining legal advice on the appointment, the underlying financing arrangements and the implications for the property and the charity. Its position is that cooperation with the receivers should not be treated as acceptance of disputed debt calculations, alleged defaults or the validity or scope of the appointment.
The notification comes against a background of disputes concerning corporate governance, financing, occupation and access to the premises. TEC Soho maintains that those matters require resolution through the appropriate legal processes. This statement does not present disputed allegations as established findings.
IMMEDIATE PRIORITIES
TEC Soho’s stated priorities are:
1) Protecting the interests of SBIS and preserving the value of assets held for charitable purposes.
2) Supporting necessary property-safety, insurance and preservation measures.
3) Establishing an accurate account of the financing, payments and liabilities.
4) Preserving relevant communications, financial records and governance documents.
5) Securing lawful access to records and safeguarding personal and third-party property.
6) Assessing available refinancing, repayment and legal options.
Mr Stephen Boxall, issuing the statement as a director of TEC Soho, said:
“Our immediate priority is to protect the charity’s interests and ensure that decisions affecting 1 Greek Street are based on accurate information and proper authority”.
“We intend to cooperate with necessary safety and preservation measures while obtaining advice on the financing and receivership position. We are also seeking to ensure that relevant records and third-party property are protected”.
“We recognise the public interest in the future of the building. We will provide verified updates where appropriate, while respecting ongoing proceedings, confidentiality and the rights of everyone involved.”
”Mitmark Security Ltd is not employed by The Explorers Club (Soho) Ltd, and those persons presenting themselves in communications with alleged honourifics should be scrutinised, especially those presenting themselves with false doctorates, and knighthoods in the United Kingdom”.
